Not really. It is very complex work and (despite what you always think) it doesn't pay particularly well.Whatever it is Mattie, I have a feeling it will increase with demand

I think our policy is the opposite of racism. We are way too soft on who we let into our country and the asylum seekers know that and even my poor old boomer mother knows it at this stage. But unfortunately there are no good political parties left to vote for. The three stooges FF, FG and SF and all cut from the same cloth tbh. No difference. Who do you vote for. It makes no difference. The 3 main parties are one in the same tbh
Meloni is under the cosh due to the economic problems under her watch, so she may double down on blaming immigrants.Irish political parties have badly miscalculated in thinking frustration with our immigration policies is confined to some fringe far right.
A recent Irish Independent opinion poll saw 28% of those surveyed state immigration is a major election issue for them. This is up from 14% in a similar poll from Sept 21. The appetite for a tougher stance on immigration is clear.
The main political parties FG, FF & SF are clearly in denial but there is a vote there for a party who will offer policy more in line with other European nations.
In Sweden the anti immigration Sweden Democrats are now the 2nd largest party.
They too saw anti immigration sentiment as confined to the far right until it translated into votes and
AfD in Germany with anti immigration policy has polled with 20% of the vote making it the 2nd strongest political force
Meloni has become the PM in Italy running on a strong platform of Anti immigration.
The Dutch recently made the Freedom party the largest party in parliament with a platform of closing their borders to refugees.
The Swiss peoples party became the second largest party in their lower house of Parliament. Again they ran on a policy of restricted immigration.
In Britain Brexit and the Conservative party tapped into voters concerns about immigration.
Its naive in the extreme not to expect a similar shift in this country. It will happen. Either one of the main parties will shift to the right or a new political entity will fill the void. Varadkar and co. can continue to bleat about the far right and try to control the Internet (lol) as public disquiet about their failing policies grows.
They seem to be under the delusion that restricting freedom of expression with their unwanted hate crime bill is going to do anything but turn away voters.
Meloni is under the cosh due to the economic problems under her watch, so she may double down on blaming immigrants.
The Tories are in for a hammering as finally people seem fed up of them. 13 years too late.
I see it on twitter, click into any irish related thread and the replies are mostly US/UK "christian", anti immigrant ironically, and pro trump. It's telling that they are all anti the hate speech law.
So the 28% of those surveyed who viewed immigration control as an important electoral issue are far right abroad?
The Irish Times edited Ryan Caseys victim impact speech. They have zero credibility.
If you even have to ask that question then you have other issues.Have we already established that the oirish times is a rag or no?![]()
