Mercury Music Prize nominees -
Florence & The Machine, are on tour in the Uk and Ireland in early December.

Belfast - Ulster Hall December 6th
Dublin - Olympia Theatre December 7th

So they are available to play other gigs in other Irish venues.

Anyone hear anything ? They might fill the Savoy or the Opera House.

Ulster Hall and Olympia seem to be about 1,400 capacity, so only a few places here would suit.

You have to travel if you want to see popular bands like that, they just don't come down here.
And even when some bands do travel out from the big population centers they aren't even coming here, Castlebar and Killarney get better bands than us.

Now could be the time for The Savoy to throw down the gauntlet.

Yep saw that one too, I guess it comes up every time a decent band announce Irish dates but no Cork one and that seems to be an increasing trend. I think this year its even been worse than usual. I don't hold out much hope for any big change on that trend either.

Maybe it's caused by the poor turnouts at the gigs that do go ahead.
