I stand to be corrected, but I've heard that used before. I think you submit it to the DCC or courts admin. If they don't play ball just turn up at the selection and make some statement that makes you out to be a loon. They'll dismiss you........or, God forbid, use you. So frustrating!Yup, that would be pretty standard I'd imagine. Person in question will be lucky if they don't find themselves in contempt of court. Very stupid thing to do, when specifically told not to.
Why is he having a breakdown? Is taking yourself off the electoral register the only way of avoiding being called for Jury Duty?
The lad in my local offie has been called up and the poor fella is having a breakdown over it.

I think you vastly overestimate the ability and reach of the average criminal! He's just very nervous about it.
I would be as well, I took myself off the register years ago to avoid ever being called up. Both my mum and late grandmother had to do it, but not me thank the lord.
Some people probably love the experience, but I'd be shitting myself that some fella or his family would come after me if I sent him down. If I had my way all courts would be like the Special Criminal Court, just let a judge do their job instead of dragging ordinary people into it.
