Minor Hurling 2022

the backbone of any Cork team should be the best players in their best position, regardless of club or the grade of their club
Agree with this. Looking at last night you’d think no midleton player should’ve been on that Cork team and that is probably what Paudie Murray saw when selecting tbis team too

A question lads, when was the last time there was no player from the county champions of that year on the county minor team? It seems very strange

It would help if teams stayed in the premier 1 grade instead of opting to go down because a few hammerings might be on the cards.

Would generally agree with this with 2 small provisos:
1. Any decent player with a P2 team will have been playing 2/3 years above his age all the way up so will be exposed to a higher level and more physical game for many years. Most P1 players tend to play at their age only with the very best maybe playing one year up only until they reach minor.
2. The school you go to is vitally important. Dean Ryan and Harty are miles above P1. Admittedly winter hurling but with the standard of pitches these days not as big an issue as it was.
