Cork Footballers

Agree with you cynic.. Damien Cahalane is in the top 3 footballers in the county championship for the last decade or so imo. The term colossus at center back comes to mind.

It’s good that there is fierce real competition for places.. that’s an ingredient that’s been there in all successful Cork teams.. with some legends fighting for their place at times.

Jones was stood out against Kerry.. Corbett- we all hope he can reproduce his sensational underage form .. Hurley and Sherlock won’t be around forever so big changes will continue in Cork full forward line

On Cronin.. isn’t it Billy Morgan in charge of the Sigerson so he’d know him well.. he is young and has been busy.. good prospect- give him time
Damien Cahalane is not the club footballer he was. No way he is in the top 3 footballers in the county championship.
Was an excellent kicker and drove on well - playing a lot fullback doesnt help but not as good as before.
besides Some of his performances for Cork in championship were horror shows.

+1. Damian is barely top 3 in his club, nevermind the county.

Was there a time when he could have become a good intercounty footballer? No doubt. But that time has passed. He could have been a good midfielder but at this stage hasn’t the engine for it. Doesn’t have the pace for the full back and has been skinned on occasion for the Haven.

He’s a great man for a barnstorming 50 yard solo run at club level. It might look impressive and it’s part of the reason he has a reputation as a great club player. But good luck trying that at intercounty level.

Obviously I should have clarified that there are of course at least 6 Clon footballers better than anyone else in the county…..Cork are lucky to have them available…. That’s the exact same Clon who’ve won nothing during the 10 year period I referred to.. the same Clon who poxed an awful county 14/15 years ago.. same Clon who have won just 2 counties in 70 years.. 😂😂😂
a different Clon who prior to the 1950s were a divisional team…

Not trying to be disrespectful or Cahalane to Haven as they are a superb outfit and he is a seasoned pro, but one fault they have consistently been found out for was being too open at the back. If he was a collosus at 6 they wouldn’t be getting caught for goals and conceding such high scores. Yes, they have the forwards to outscore most teams in a shootout but shoring up at the back is a major drawback for the style of play they use. Just a thought

What has Damian Cahalane got to do with Clon? Who mentioned Clon? Are you a bit obsessed, like a few others on here??😂😂

Maybe try to back up your frankly ludicrous statement that Cahalane is one of the best 3 footballers in the county rather than coming out with bizarre jealous ramblings about a club which has won more counties in the last 30 years than all but 2 other teams.👍🏻😉

That statement is incorrect. You might rectify in future posts. Thanks.
