Firemen now asking with Management about the situation that they are covering Ballincollig Area from Cork City.
They are employed to do their job and whether it takes too long to reach Ballincollig is not their problem, Its for Mangement to decide the locations of the bases.
There will be an absolute shit show if God forbid there is a fatality in a fire in Ballincollig
Now bare in mind, Ballincollig is part of Cork City since 2019.
The fire station out there was originally provided by the County Council as it was their area of course, but cute out, before the city took it over they moved the better fire engines out of there and replaced them with their crap ones.
Anyway I digress, the City Council in their wisdom, are keen to continue the " retained fire service " in Ballincollig.
But they are having terrible issues trying to get local people to join up.
The logical thing here of course is to have the station out there like the one in Ballyvolane, a full time service and what harm, meaning that places like Bishopstown will benefit as well.
So it's down to money as always.
As things stand if there is a fire in the Ballincollig/ Ovens ( to the boundary before EMC ) then the lads are dispatched from Anglesea Street.
Time is a very important thing when lives are in danger.
