Bus Eireann

But what could the drivers have against GPS tracking as long as the tracking is only used for bus positional information (which is all their union would need to agree to). If the company just wanted to use the information to keep the customers posted in real time as to how far off the bus is then no worries - but if the company tried to use the information to monitor any driver they would be in breach of GDPR as it wouldn't be for the agreed intended use. It's surely not beyond the wit of the company or unions involved.
The drivers don't want it, mate, simple. GPS tracking was supposed to be introduced donkeys years ago, but drivers don't want it. So it's basically f**k the general public. Plus ca change

Yeah I've been told that before - it's just I don't get the why of it. If it's done properly they should have nothing to fear imho

Don't ever change Otto
Ah I see now why you changed your handle, as you are getting older your mind is acting up so Elderberries is to protray a silly old simple fool.

I have no issue with the point that Bus Eireann in Cork being crap and ran terribly, because it is.

As I said the other issue is the workers unions mindset.

Do you understand now or will we take out the crayons you fool ?

Because they don't want to be held accountable. Sure the bus routes in Cork and Dublin are totally archaic, but woe and behold anyone who tries to change work practices. The drivers union run Bus Eireann and not for anyone's benefit but their own. Simple.

You've been eating the blue crayons again haven't you Otto.

You think the reason BE are finding it difficult to recruit drivers is because some of the stick you've been getting here, but at the same time you've absolutely no problem at all with someone saying "We also have no competition or a dedicated Cork Bus company as we are stuck with Bus Eireann who are just backward"

I think they updated the routes quite recently. We had the first 24 hour route in the country from B'collig to Crosshaven now. It's not all doom and gloom imho, but still huge room for improvement. It's not in anyone's interest BE, their staff, or their customers for it to fail. It would be stupid of ANY union to run their members livelihoods into the ground. No jobs, no union dues.
