Bus Eireann

Anyone know if they're currently accepting cash on their buses? Advice appears to be to use a leap card/purchase a ticket online, but I've no way of getting the former before tomorrow and tickets for the route I use can't be purchased online.

They are yep. I've seen a few people pay with cash and there hasn't been any problem. My only suggestion would be to try and have the exact amount, as drivers will probably have less change due to fewer people paying in cash

So, because Bus Eireann has a monopoly on Cork City Bus services, when they went on n strike some years ago, the city was left without public road transport. The new Bus Connects plan includes a proposal for some routes to be put out to tender. Apparently this is a “dealbreaker” for Meek Da Doob Barry, TD for Cork North Central.

He’s some langer all the same

He is just a Communist who does not believe in competition and the advantages of same for consumers

He can make all the noise he wants or organise whatever marches he wants
The fact of the matter is some routes in Dumplin / Kildare are already gone out to tender and operated by other companies

It is EU law, so I feel Mick the Commy needs to study his politics

Mick Barry out today complaining about the proposal to have private operators having bus routes in bus connects for Cork as in his words competition "Drives down wages"

Never mind driving down actual fares and having a clean reliable alternative that is common in more Socialist countries across Europe.

If you have a total monopoly you just do not even have to make an effort................Yes, you Bus Eireann

Mick Barry would be arguing against Ryanair if they were threatening Aer Lingus's monopoly years ago.

Mick and likes of Paul murphy have spent the last four years warning of a tsunami of home repossessions, Hasnt happened yet,
