Tbh it’s like this a lot ( quiet) Friend Pub owner Recently 1450 up on one week in comparison to last year ( 2 weeks back) Yet he’s actually out of pocket despite the extra 1450 ( energy and wages) Reckon we’re going to see a lot more closures v soon

A neighbour of mine put an add up on indeed recently for a part time chef,last year that would be a waste of money ,within two days he had 81 cvs,an extraordinary turnaround ,apparently a lot of the chefs would have been working seasonally in hotels in tourist or rural spots but that is drying up .

Are the €3 pints a loss leader or what? How can a place that serves drink so cheaply not do well?

Some breweries have( had) deals with pubs where for every x amount of kegs the rep can land on you he’ll give you y amount in freebies. For some pubs that could be as many as 20 free kegs so even at €3 a pop you’d be making a nice amount per keg.
