I remember years ago reading the Sunday World and some, I think German (defo European) business type was saying that compared to Africa, Ireland was worse for businesses with nods and winks and hand shakes wrapped around envelopes

Are the €3 pints a loss leader or what? How can a place that serves drink so cheaply not do well?

Tbh it’s like this a lot ( quiet) Friend Pub owner Recently 1450 up on one week in comparison to last year ( 2 weeks back) Yet he’s actually out of pocket despite the extra 1450 ( energy and wages) Reckon we’re going to see a lot more closures v soon

I'd say the Irish ones are a pain in the balls to run. Absolutely everything is delivered from the UK, and when you've got single pubs in random places like Cork, Waterford, and Carlow, the costs surely add up.

Much easier just to have 4 or 5 pubs in Dublin which are raking the coin in, and all easily served in the same day via Dublin Port
