Joe Bonamassa

As Joe Bonamassa grows his reputation as one of the world’s greatest guitar players, he is also evolving into a charismatic blues-rock star and singer-songwriter of stylistic depth and emotional resonance. His ability to connect with live concert audiences is transformational, and his new album, The Ballad Of John Henry, brings that energy to his recorded music more powerfully than ever before. "It's a real, real honour for the family to have this happen, and in particular, in Cork," said Donal Gallagher. "I can't think of a better 30th anniversary remembrance for Rory, a celebration of his work, and no better man than Joe to play that."

Say Donal, Maybe a better 30th anniversary would be to not flog the guitar to some rich prick, just a suggestion like

I dunno if it's mentioned in the article or not but Joe Bonamassa is the man who appears to be the frontrunner (according to industry rumours) to buy that Strat.

He played it a few years back onstage in London.

If he does buy it he's playing both side of the game.

"Bonamassa revealed at Monday's press conference he had anonymously put in "a couple of grand" to the GoFundMe campaign to keep Rory’s guitar in Cork."

I'd bet if it was Ali Hewson's strap on the govt would step in and buy it

Interesting. I'm a bit of a guitar nerd myself so I've watched a few videos on Bonamassa's collection which is huge and reaches all the way back to the 1800s. It's admirable that he takes such care of musical history but, as Marc Maron put it on his podcast recently - "They go into a vault. Not many folks get to see those guitars ever again. Unless you hang out with Joe".

It would be fairly odd for him to go and buy the Stratocaster after this - unless he intends to leave it behind him after playing down the Marquee.
