There's accommodation housing Ukrainians on Gerald Griffin Street already. On the right as you go down GG street just after the school. Families have their own rooms there as opposed to the place on Model Farm Road where it's 20+ to a room. Maybe they are going to change the number of people per room on GG street or something to get more in.

Everyone is labelling everyone else which fuels all the rage.

If you think we should accommodate as many asylum seekers as possible within reasonable limits, you're told you're part of the "woke brigade" trying to "destroy the country" and "replace the native population" for no other reason than you're assumed to be the left of the views of the person calling you that.

So if you're upset that you're being called "far right" because you want more restrictions on immigration and/or asylum seekers (no matter how reasonable you might think you are being) then you can't complain when you are lumped in with the Derek Blighe, The National Party and the people who organised the riots in Dublin last year. Or for more wind-up points you get lumped in with the BNP and Farage, that's annoying.

As humans we're lazy about labelling everyone and we're lazy on detail, appreciating the deep complexity of problems and empathy.

It's why places like this and social media thrive on humans sub-dividing each other into categories.
