Cork Hurlers - Part 2

This could be one hell of a game lads - Tipp are a lot like ourselves and like to play the ball and there won’t be any of the neck high tackles or striking to the head we have seen elsewhere but it will still be tough hurling - Liam Cahill is a decent type of character like Pat Ryan and his team will play for him and work hard for him.

The transformation in Tipp since last year is massive which proves they always have players. Some great sticknen in the Tipp team but hopefully our pace can get at them and our bench will bring an injection of that at the right time in the game with Robbie, Kingston, Cahalane etc and I think Tim could also be seen here. We will have to take our chances though and be very tight at the back. Full back line simply cannot get turned but thankfully all three are quick and physical. We have genuine quality and options now in every position so we must start to make it count. Tipp can take us if we dont put the work in and earn the right to hurl.

A game like this would be made for Jack O Connor’s pace in the wide open spaces - any truth in the rumour that he might be gone for the year with shin splints ?

Corcaigh Abu

I’ve always found Nicky English to call it straight - he rightly highlights that Cork are still playing Cahalane, Lehane, Harnedy and Horgan from 2013 and that Cahill’s Tipp teams were able to master them at u20 level
Very sobering thought. On the other hand tipp free
I'm only over the road from PUC and it is absolutely scorching here this morning.
Yeah. Beautiful day for it.

Oh they absolutely did. Outworked is in 2018 All Ireland, again in 19 Munster Final with a last minute goal and hammered us out the gate in the 2019 All Ireland where they had the game won after 20 minutes.

Workrate has been a weakness of ours in the past few years. If we don’t at least match our workrate from last week then Tipp will win.
Nah, there was no "mastery" in it. There was nothing between those teams.

As for the last paragraph- that's bleeding obvious!
Though nobody has considered that Tipp might have a blow out a la Cahill’s Waterford last year.
Unlikely....but he has recent form in that regard.

Also funny though how people are happy to buy into the transformative effect Cahill will have on this Tipp team, who didn't win a game in Munster last year, over the transformative effect that Ryan will have on a Cork team who have always passed the round robin test.

It's the nerves that are getting to us, hurly

I think cool heads will be called for though, Tipp are well capable of a purple patch that could put daylight between them and us.
They are also well capable of handing momentum back to us.
Ryan's principles of working like dogs and playing to the final seconds of the game could well be tested, as could all of our nerves!

Stay with them and stay loud, enjoy the game!

What happened with Waterford was down to the same players who failed Derek McGrath and Tipp don’t have that baggage. A lot of these players have 2 or 3 All Ireland medals. Those Tipp teams under Cahill beat us psychologically as well as outworking us. I think we have a good chance of winning today but the lads will need to work harder than they ever have before.

Never a better chance to get rid of that baggage.
