Cork Hurlers - Part 2

I'd be worried about McCarthy on Sunday. He's a very talented lad, but his first year in, you might expect the nerves to get to him. They won't. This is his second time in a sold out Park, so it's kind of like his second season in some ways. Generational talents like him often light up the stage in year two. I think he'll have that year 2 mentality, if not quite the physique. He'll take minding.

I presume what you mean was he elbowed reidy into his helmet ?

i’m not denying that it was a red card, Any contact with the helmet is a straight red card. (Not as if that rule is ever enforced but anyway) But youre here justifying Why Reidy went down like a sack of spuds when he had no reason in the world for doing so only to draw the red card.

Scumbaggish behaviour is what i say
Soft, effeminate behavior is what it is.

I personally think it’s great that the games are spread around, nice boost to the local economy in places also. I’d say the lads in Ennis were delighted with the cork crowd.
They were delighted with the business, worth between 1 and 2 m apparently.

Great atmosphere, red everywhere, every pub swamped. More pub swamping next Sunday hopefully!

If COB and Downey are healthy what do you do in the half back line? I’d ease COB in by leaving him on the bench and springing him in the 2nd half if the opportunity is presented. If he picks up where he left off the debate about who should start can be had again.

Thoughts?

We have played Clare twice in 2025 both times in Clare, we got a win and a draw there.

I am not sure why anyone would say that Clare have the measure of this Cork team which if I remember really came together after the defeat to Waterford last year.
We lost to Clare by a point in the second round after SOD was sent off( deservedly).
Anyone who uses that league win in ennis as some kind of trophy that everything is rosie whenever we play Clare, i’d question their knowledge on the game.

And as for the draw, are you happy with drawing ? plus youre using it totally out of context, it was as bad as a loss for our mindset against them. Yes we drew to the AI Champions in their home, but context matters Brother

Clare have at least eight players on the team who are thirty or over, I think they are on average about three year older than this Cork who started with two players over thirty and had 6 players starting who are 24 or younger, 7 if COB had been fit.

These teams are at completely different stages in their lifecycles.
I don’t know if this bit of your reply was for me directly, i hope not as it has absolutely nothing to do with what i was talking about, What does the ages of both teams have to do with anything? we’re quite obviously going to be light years ahead of them in years to come as most our players haven’t even primed, While most the Clare lads will be hanging up their boots. But we’re talking about the here and now, not 5 years down the road.

I’m conscious that i’m still talking about Clare, but people that reckon weve no problem in the world playing them as of late need to wake up a bit. All about Tip at the weekend who will be looking to settle a score, Not that they will of course🤞

Elbowed into the head??? Was the poor little lamb not wearing a helmet? In the unlikely event he got an elbow, what part of the helmet/guard/ear was impacted by the elbow and are you seriously claiming it was of sufficient force to knock him to the ground?
U20s last night, on two occasions a hurley hit the head/helmet of a Limerick player and a Cork player. No rolling around, ref just dished out yellows if I recall correctly.
