Cork Hurlers - Part 2

The swings in the balance of power between Cork and Clare is wild. We couldn't beat them for about 10 years in the 90s, then from 99 on I think apart from the 2013 final they didn't beat us in about 20 odd years, now we can't beat them for love nor money.

Surprised so many are claiming that Clare always have our measure

Are some people forgetting that we got a red card ?

John Mullane thinks Cork would have won by 5/7 pts but for the red.

IMO that's a fair conclusion.

Clare do not have our measure and we are a bit ahead of them.
That red card was a load of crap. I remember the 2009 Football All Ireland when Nicholas Murphy got a solid intentional elbow to the head from Tadhg Kennelly in front of referee.Nicholas got up, took the free, and nobody was sent off. Reidy dived like he was hit by Katie Taylor!

Now we bringing football into it...
Roy says...never give the ref a decision to make.

This, so much, they've been warned several times, that this year any deliberate contact with the head is a red card. It's been repeated over and over again. Was the contact minimal, absolutely, does it matter, no, unfortunately for Barrett.

Doesn’t matter. If Reidy didn’t roll around and try get Barrett sent off, nothing would have happened. This carry on has crept into the game, and has the potential to destroy it. Reidy should get a suspension for bringing game into disrepute, and Cork should absolutely appeal the ban. I see Cleary had the class to say that Paudie Clifford’s red card was a yellow at best!

What gives us the right to say they don’t have our measure ? look at our championship results against them in the last number of years?

None of the above really matters at the moment anyway, Tipperary is our next game not Clare that’s what we should be looking forward to
We have played Clare twice in 2025 both times in Clare, we got a win and a draw there.

I am not sure why anyone would say that Clare have the measure of this Cork team which if I remember really came together after the defeat to Waterford last year.
We lost to Clare by a point in the second round after SOD was sent off( deservedly).

Clare have at least eight players on the team who are thirty or over, I think they are on average about three year older than this Cork who started with two players over thirty and had 6 players starting who are 24 or younger, 7 if COB had been fit.

These teams are at completely different stages in their lifecycles.
