Cork Footballers

At least we don't have to play Donegal and Armagh in 2025.

Division 2 does not look as formidable as it did in 2024.

The 7 teams we will meet all look beatable, if we get out act together - even a little bit.

We have started poorly in the last number of league campaigns in Div 2.
Have to start off with 2 points, to get us a footing within the league.
Roscommon have players back and should be in the mix for a return quickly to Division 1. We would not survive in Division 1 this season, its a different level.

If it’s Cork Kerry Easter weekend will they play that on Easter Sunday?
Saturday evening would surely be better
Cork limerick in hurling few years ago was on Easter Sunday

Why’s Luke Fahy on crutches
Lads this is the worst panel we have had in years and that saying something. Not 1 bright prospect coming through. We will be lucky to stay mid table at best. What is shocking is not a word from County board about the state of football in Cork. Our schools are hammered year in year out not sure what coaches they send in there.Club stanard is just awful. The problem is Hurling will always be number 1 with our County board.30 years ago a separte football board should have been set up to promote and safe guard Cork Football through Coaching etc and putting the right people in Charge. When you have a board full of mostly hurling first club people how can football get a say at all it all a joke really.

A very valid point. The hurling clubs hold the power while there are far more football clubs and footballers in the county. Hurling is slowly dying in front of our eyes in the few parts of the country it’s played but especially in Cork.
In any other business, the executives would be fired for the catastrophic failure of their 5 year plan for football.
Rebel og is an unmitigated disaster.

There is points I agree with here tbh.

There is and was bright prospects coming through and factors that have effected that are hurling, injury or omission/leaving panel.

Other issue as you say is County Board and their 5 Year plan that didn't exactly work.

Separate Board could have been a complete disaster as well and could have done more damage tbh.

Putting right people in charge is definitely a huge factor, I believe tho a lot of previous football managers are not held to the same standards of their hurling counterpart.

Between retirements/travel/personal choice over the last few years is a huge issue and it's not being addressed at all. Imagine that much fellas walked from the hurling panel? There'd be a Garda Investigation.
Fellas are leaving the Football panel to bate the band a lot of us know the issue(s) yet the powers that be have the attitude of if we don't talk about it, it's not an issue.

People hammer Rebel Og and some of it is over the top in my opinion. Yes definitely room for improvement but I think it's better than the old set up. Speaking from my Division of Seandun go back nearly 20 years ago they used nearly have a panel of 40 at age groups and it never got cut or they'd try to enter 2 teams and have 50-60 then.
Now it's City and East and they carry about 30ish on the business end of things.

When it went into the Cork Panel U16/Minor there was probably about 5 picked from Seandun or less and the reason was West Cork Mafia - it definitely still exists today across all age groups.

I could not disagree more , how can you say its the worst panel do you know any of the players involved.

its hard to argue with him really? if this is our current crop 5 years on from winning Minor and U20 All irelands (all those players should be in their prime now)
Then what way are we going to fair out in the next 5 years with our last few minor and U20 teams being absolutely atrocious.
Lads it’s fine to be positive for cork football and the sort but come on we’ve to open our eyes aswel like, it’s not looking pretty
