Cork Footballers

Any idea what date the leagues are starting? Won't be long coming back around and we will inevitably start gaining hope that we will go down the park against the neighbours and get out of there with a win !!!

It’s a very average panel but the overall standard in division 2 especially with how a team adapts to the new rules gives lots of teams hope and potential, not sure of the management and coach can get the best out of them.
I always laugh when I hear people lament the state of football especially club football- it’s irrelevant to senior intercounty and has been for years, cork club football is no better or worse then the majority of counties.
Secondly if the county board are doing enough for football the football people in the county aren’t inanimate objects - they can actually do something if they wish like get involved for example, however the reason there isn’t a hullabaloo about cork football from cork football people is they are perfectly happy with how things are, once the west cork mafia have their clutches on selection for our various intercounty teams and their own clubs are a
Ok, they are ok

Who are these West Cork Mafia? Have they names or is it just a collective jibe as in city versus country?
Is there a Duhallow mafia or a Muskery mafia?
Castlehaven won the last two county titles handy enough and John Cleary used to play for them, but is now living close to the city.

I wouldn't take much notice of it @cooldude . It's unfounded in the same way that there were unfounded-accusations about Nemo players being generally favoured when Morgan was manager. The reality is that a lot of the players that Cork footballers would love to have are playing other sports instead (as is their right), and for completely legitimate reasons this tends to be greater the further east one goes in County Cork - and so therefore the west-representation is somewhat greater than it would otherwise be.

Mostly living in and around the Ovens-Ballincollig area now

Some of the old timers in Ovens and Ballincollig would burst every football in site in those areas and curse the day a Kerry man or a Kerry man with shoes stood foot in the parish.
