Cork Footballers

Saw the Barrs beat Nemo last week end with M Shields and P Kerrigan still playing, made me think how many of the 2010 are still playing with their clubs, D O Connor, P O Neill,A Walsh,D Goulding, E Cadogen and C Sheehan Hurling.

Are we surprised? That board is openly hostile towards football in its scheduling, treatment of football players etc. How many players are on Cork squads from over 20 clubs? It's not a coincidence, it's manufactured neglect and railroading of young players
Exactly. All you have to do is look at their Divisional teams in their Football and Hurling Championship games last year.

Little or no advertisement for their football team last year for championship games. Yet their hurlers had a challenge against Ballygunner and it was advertised everywhere.

A crowd of numpties who care not a jot for football.

Well at least they don’t hide it. I’d respect that.
It’s unfortunate but it’s reality there and has never been any different.
We won’t get into what the football people go on about and that dark history of siding with British landlords and British rule and why it’s a hurling region. Cloyne man Donal Og Cusack did an excellent documentary on it. One of the few to address that side of the history of hurling which some would lead you believe that after Cul Culin it just magically reappeared once the Brits were leaving!

Not a single Division 1 football team in Cork North of the River Lee. All 10 Div 1 teams are in that part of Cork south of the River Lee.
That says it all about football development in Cork.
