The final was a terrible standard, widely regarded as the worst in last 30 years and it appears Cork were punished heavily for that.. We were very much a panel of 8/9 rotating forwards too which prob didn’t help

No it wasn’t, cork vs Kerry 2007 was far worse, any of the mayo finals in 06, 04 were worse. That cork team wasn’t respected despite what they achieved and which other teams have found so hard to achieve subsequently, at the end of the day the all stars are a joke system, fellas like Marty morrissey, Martin Breheny and get canning have been all star selectors

Martin Brehany played for his club in Galway, the same as Divilly & Shane Walsh, and also served as club secretary before he transferred to Dublin. He is regarded as being one of the top GAA journalists.

Wikipedia: “Marty Morrisey was a dual player, playing as goalkeeper in Gaelic football and corner forward in hurling. He played his hurling with Ballyea GAA and later Clonbony GAA. Morrisey played his football with Kilmurry Ibrickane GAA, St Flannan's College (runner up in the 1976 Munster Final), University College Cork and Clare GAA. With Clare GAA he played three years in the Minor team and acted as substitute in the Senior team.He played both codes at minor level for Clare.“
Marty was also a very successful coach at club level winning mutiple county titles and secondary school level where he was a PE teacher winning the Munster colleges football.

Ger Canning played football for the Barr’s. He played soccer for college Corinthians and UCC.
