Cork Developments

The site compound portacabins that Sisk had below in Dunkettle are in the process of being dismantled and transported and reassembled down by Ringaskiddy for the m28 project.

Hopefully that is a sign that Sisk have gotten the go ahead on that job, I do hope so, they deserve it after the excellent work they did in Dunkettle.

Excellent me hole. Like all tier 1 contractors they cost too much, spend too much focus on virtue signalling safety and make fuckall money (20m in 1,5billion) . The offices bty are the council offices being set up in ringaskiddy.

Added to that the most counter intuitive design of an interchange by the NRA adds to a total shambles... dublin road from tunnell is lethal.

Is lethal ? can you discuss

Lethal I’m not sure, but there is something way off about the whole layout & design.
I’m driving through it 10-12 times a week and every time I drive through it I’m less impressed.
Like the Sars & Kinsale flyovers the grade changes and road surfacing is poor.
It does improve traffic flow but could be much better

My reference to excellent is how they managed to construct that Interchange considering the levels of live traffic, the railway line and the water down there.
They would have built it to whatever specification they were given, so if there is a design issue, it is not Sisks doing.

I didn't see anything spectacular about their traffic management. Jon's and the old mulcaire are and were much better civil contractors.
Agree about design. They are blameless.
Trucks going through the tunnel are naturally keeping left, solid white linen the tunnel means you can't move right until exiting and make the dublin turnoff. I've seen them veer across the traffic to make it and its lethal.
Ultimately they will have to put sold markers in the middle approaching the tunnel thus forcing the decision early.

Of course you don't see anything spectacular about their traffic management, perhaps you did not drive through the Interchange while it was being constructed.
As a matter of fact it is not just trucks that have that issue.
That sign before the tunnel coming from the Mahon side, is causing a lot of confusion. As to why common sense has not occurred as yet is frustrating.

i have 38 years of doing traffic management for various civil projects. i think i can spot it... The overall traffic management plan would have been done by the designers not the contractor.
My original comment still applies. These tier 1 contractors are no great shakes, cost the state a fortune, are overloaded with non performing individuals and bureaucracy. I would prefer to see Jons or even (think local) Sorenson doing these jobs.
Common sense has not occured on any signage... why we have to say westward instead of "the tunnel" is beyond me.

Would tourists or strangers know that the tunnel takes you west?

most users are irish or munster... cater to them first. ..the tunnel is one of the best known irish traffic landmarks...outsiders use google so they are ok, the roundabout on the western side of little island is another source of confusion....umpteen choice on a roundabout is not good practice because people normally dont stop at roundabout unlike traffic lights to take stock.
Try doing mahon point to Dublin when there are cars in the fast lane coming through.
More work needed here.
