Cork Developments

So to all the other idiots out there who think those works were a waste of money, they weren't as traffic coming from the other directions were not at all impacted by this incident.
Had the old roundabout been there, then all approaches would have been impacted
Yes, let's spend €230M so we can avoid one traffic jam every few years.

You are wrong, Traffic from the east heading to the city was chronic ,as people avoided the tunnel,
Yesterday evening was a nightmare as well...
Crash happened about 5:30 just past the Mahon Exit heading West..
I waited for it to ease joined the traffic about 6:45pm, still no joy was 45 mins plus moved from Laya Health Care Little Island to maybe the slip off to Dublin roughly 200 metres. It started to move then once the accident was clear. 4 lanes coming from the east merging into one doesn't work when there's an accident it can't deal with the volume.
People then tried to avoid this by heading to the city and then there was a crash on the Lower Glanmire Road.
Traffic heading to the city was backed up to Laya soon after as well.

This morning i passed Lakeview roundabout Midleton 7.30, got to city centre 8.30

You are wrong, Traffic from the east heading to the city was chronic ,as people avoided the tunnel,
From N40 North to M8 no problem
From N40 North to N8 East, snarled due to traffic from the N25 East deciding to take the N8 to the City rather than the tunnel.
From N40 North to N25 East, no problem.
From N25 to N8 North no problem.
Traffic from N8 East to M8 North no problem.

As I said the M8 South to N40 was the issue, the traffic in that lane had to go into the left lane aka the traffic from N25 East to N40.

Therefore I am right, as when there was a roundabout there, every single movement in all directions would have been effected
