Cork Cycling infrastructure

keep them coming

looks good

As already stated, I don't live in cork anymore.

My original post was a question, I am now being informed.

The cyclist thread on the langers forum is best suited to your hating.

My pointing out that criticism of the cycling infrastructure in Cork by folk who clearly haven't a clue, and only admitted to retrospectively, is "hating"???

I spent time in the US but if someone was to tell me that parking in Manhattan is worse than it used to be I certainly wouldn't try contradict them because I've not tried parking there in years. And if I did and guys there countered with concrete evidence I certainly wouldn't accuse them of "hating" because they did so.

"contra flow cycle lanes on one way streets, seems to work well in Brussels.
Streets too narrow in cork city for this to be feasible ?"

where was I critical ? it was an observation about experiences else where to see if would work in cork, since I haven't been home in nearly 2 years I didn't know that some had been implemented. I have been since shown a few examples which is productive to the discussion about infrastructure

and the hating, every day as you drive around cork there is always some cyclist doing something stupid every day to annoy you, which you continue bleat about in here, you clearly hate cyclists in general.

hence stick to the cyclists thread

When you posted your "Streets too narrow in cork city for this to be feasible ?" nonsense as though it wasn't happening in Cork when it quite evidently is and anyone familiar with cycling in Cork (clearly excludes you and Honky) would know that :)

And if you weren't such a hater you'd have twigged that I do cycle in Cork and don't have a dislike of cyclists at all. What I've a dislike of is people who think that the Rules of The Road apply to others but not to them. I include motorists by the way, but you're too blinded by your hate to understand these things. You seem to think anyone critical of any cyclist couldn't possibly be a cyclist themselves

What needs to be encouraged is cycling locally to places like schools, local high streets, local workplaces and parks with the necessary infrastructure and build from that. We also need to get rid of this Bradley Wiggins image of cycling Wiggo, dont worry we still love you. There was an image used at the RIBA exhibition and a picture of cyclists at a set of traffic lights, all male and all geared up like the Tour de France. Not an image that should be used to help promote cycling to the shops.

I'd agree with you - short trip cycling to school or to the shops is the way to go imho. Gives people fresh-air and exercise without their becoming some kind of lycra-fiend who thinks that motorists are the devil incarnate. A bit of give and take on the roads would go a long way, rather than the uber-cyclists with their "Let's take over the streets and try to have cars moved out of town" attitudes.
