Wait....
is it that new "Music...but sped up ta fuck" genre??
My younger sister is listening to these severe earbleeders lately...Microdisney would be a fitting description of them alright :)

I think I have vague memories of Microdisney. Am I right in saying they were a Cork band circa 1987? Was one of their videos shot on the back of an open lorry or am I losing my mind altogether?

I have no idea what you're on about, but is the town to town one
From disco to disco
Town after town
Everybody is trying to get down?
Nope.

Town to Town
Got a peaceful feeling
I've found the reason
For taking nothing seriously.
Its the guessing game with
Those waves of flame and,
Sick winter for a thousand years
Me and my ex-lover
Will accept each other,
Help reap the dead harvest,
Town to town.

She's nervous and her
Best friend is waiting,
She's trying to pronounce my name.
Talk all we may she
Can't but conceal
The fullness of her secret heart.
Its our lives,
Its nothing, don't touch me,
Don't call me,
I can't wake up.
Can't help you,
Someone else will,
If you just sit still.

When the daily parade of the troubles you made gets you down,
Just consider the fate of the wide open space from town to town.

Get Olso, get Glasgow
Hit Bonn and hit Bordeaux,
Fry Dresden, fry Dublin,
Why don't you call me?
I've got nobody.

When the daily parade of the troubles you made gets you down,
Just consider the fate of the wide open space from town to town.
When the daily parade of the troubles you made gets you down,
Just consider the fate of the wide open space from town to town.

'Town to Town' is a great pop song, as is 'Birthday Girl' and 'Singer's Hampstead Home'.
Loftholdingswood is their best work IMO though.

Ehhhhh..... no.
Microdisney's two main members were Seán O'Hagan and Cathal Coughlan. In general, O'Hagan wrote the music which was melodic pop/rock heavily-influenced by the Beach Boys. This was contrasted by Cathal's angry, vitriolic lyrics. Cathal went on to great things with Fatima Mansions (even though his genius was, once again, criminally-ignored) and Seán formed the High Llamas.

You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Microdisney were probably the best band Cork has ever produced.

I remember listening to Cathal tell us (the audience in the Arc) that "your pope is a fucking wanker," back in 1981.

Legends.
