2023 Premier sfc

Ya Brian Hayes is Vital to get back on the football panel. He is the best Club footballer in Cork.
Agreed Hayes is a better footballer than hurler (wouldn’t be hard) but a bit of a stretch to say he’s the best in Cork.

Powter, Hurley, Shanley, Clancy, LOD, White bros are all better footballers and arguably COM, Colm OC, Sherlock would be important players.

Well at least teams will have to go out in the final round of the group games and have to try and win the games and score and not play what was witnessed in Enniskeane on Sunday.

Only pity is all games on the same time. 4pm on the Sunday. Would like to see both Clon & Ross because they won't get away with Sunday's shindigs. One person not in attendance and following on twitter thought it was a soccer match they were following. 3-2 at Ht !!

Fair point Joe. Ross are an ultra defensive team, it will be interesting to see if they can alter their style and go out to win the game from the start against Valleys.

Clon-Haven will be a VERY different spectacle, 2 teams who want to attack and play football on the front foot. Both teams need to win so expect a classic played in traditional West Cork style, in front of a huge attendance. Have no doubt it will make up for the disappointment of last Sunday.

We are lucky in west cork to have these great games on our doorstep and to be from well supported clubs where championship atmosphere is something special and the players on the field are ready to die for the jersey.

Compare that to group games played by the likes of Ballincollig, Douglas and even the Barrs. Utterly insipid affairs in front of a handful of people.

Enniskeane was utterly insipid in front of a large crowd! And ye played as defensive. Dont be blaming the Carbery men. Didn't see too many clon players wanting to die for the Jersey. Except maybe the gang at HT. Will be most interesting to see if both teams can turn their style around for their last games.

I know I’ve made the Clon- Dublin comparison before but to me that game Sunday was very reminiscent of the infamous Dublin- Donegal semi. Clon / Dublin with all the talent but just not experienced enough to break down a team with 15 men behind the ball. It will come.

Round Clon they don’t refer to the current group of players as The Ispinis for nothing
