Would you support a...

...United Ireland if it embraced unionist values. For example:
Family oriented Orange Parades on pana on July 12th.
Ulster emblems on the Irish flag (maybe a crown).
Change in national anthem.
Etc.

No united ireland.

Nordies from both traditions are just too different to us.

Moves for a united ireland will lead to bloodshec by people from the 26 county republic who oppose it.

We cannot afford the North, the vast majority of employees up there are employed by various sections of the UK Government.

We have enough of our own leeches

Great point.

Northern ireland is worse than some sh!thole island that the brits own in the carribean or atlantic for the amount of support that these leeches get.

Should money be a deciding factor in all this. Hardly. I know the unionist ethos is very backward thinking and conservative but we have our own bunch of those in the south. I mean, these are not aliens from another planet coming to colonise. Should Arlene and other unionists come to places like Cork, Galway, Waterford and Limerick and start building bridges and put solid foundations in place for what appears to be the inevitable. Look beyond Dublin as its a lost cause at this stage and we have about as much love for Dublin as NI does.

It is a bloody big factor though. How much extra tax would everyone in the South pay to support the makey-uppy jobs in various quangos that the Brits have set up in N Ireland to keep a lid on things? As previous poster says, there is enough waste in public spending here anyway without being landed with the gold medal winners for draining money from taxpayers pockets.
Bunch of c***s from both traditions up there would be demanding some kind of "integration allowance" hand-out if there was to be a united Ireland.

SF say the economic windfall would be huge, others say otherwise, for many a fella who dreams of a united ireland and sings the rebel songs the thoughts of paying more tax for a united ireland could have them singing a different tune,

I'm currently in an Ireland full of west brits anyway. :)

No problem whatsoever allowing Unionists carry on with whatever peaceful traditions they like. The should be just as entitled to march on pana on July 12th the way the RCs march in procession for their Eucharistic Procession on Corpus Christi imho.

Irish Flag might have to be re-thought. Don't think there should be a crown or papal keys for that matter, but perhaps something like the Cross of St Patrick with an orange and white bar against a green background but am open to other suggestions.

I'd be OK with changing the anthem too - on condition that clown from Derry Phil Coulter had no hand act or part in drafting a new one.
It should be trilingual as well - English and Irish words pronounced in a northern accent. ;-)

Seriously though, when there is a united Ireland of course everybody will have to compromise. We'd be no better than others if we were to try impose our will and only our will, on them by sheer force of numbers.

there are more David Ervines than Gregory Campbells up there

Just so you know like - SF aren't the only ones saying there'd be an economic windfall. https://www.irishtimes.com/business...ould-bring-in-36-5bn-in-eight-years-1.2435505

BTW, do you want to live in a society or in an economy? Don't really want to live in the US tbh.
