what was your favourite childhood car?

A Capri was the car to have, vroom vroom.
Class car

I had a buddy whose dad was into his flash motors, he had a beautiful Capri, remember being well jealous

He also got the Renault (I think?) that had the first electric windows I'd ever seen but no idea what model it would have been

My Dad always bought old cars. He had this blue long tank of a thing when he was still a painter and decorator. The whole 6 of us fit in it. It had a long boot for his worksmans tools.
The last car he owned was an 89 Toyota Sprinter which I drove to work in after my Renault Clio was mangled in a rear collison.
It was some car, no cd player only a tape deck. I drove from west cork to The Maryborough for work before there was any flyover done yet. An hour and a halfs drive each way. The car never broke down but I paid for the tax and insurance on it cos I felt it wouldn't be fair otherwise.
I also have his love of old cars, always drove them.

When I was a teenager, one of the neighbor took a 1946 Packard Clipper, cut and dropped the roof so that the windshield was about 12 inches high, then painted the whole thing (several coats) with orange tractor paint. It looked like a child's plastic toy. It was very cool. I don't think that the windshield modification would be allowed today,

I’ll see your electric windows and raise you my uncles car with electric windows and no window frame on the door.

Mid to late eighties. No idea what the car was but I thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Ha.. The car I remember had no door frames either and would have been the same timeframe. It’s probably the same car, whatever it was?!

I have some notion that it had ‘America’ or something like that in the model/version name

America rings a bell alright. I’ll have to ask the uncle about it when I meet him over Christmas.
