Tidal pool in Cork

Two other things.

Two swim caps!

Cheap flip flops to get to and from the water.

There are also showers in a few beach locations including Myrtleville and Fountainstown which are handy.

No stopping ye now! :)

Yeah, footwear is a must for some "beaches" . Missus bought a pair of kind of wet-suit ankle boots. I think she said 12 Euro in Dunnes, and swears by them. Her feet were always the first thing to get painful in the cold on those bracing dips. I've seen people wearing wet suit type gloves as well.

I am a complete wuss about stepping on seaweed and stones so I have swim shoes.

I hate swim caps -don't know why but I hate the feel of them. I would put on a wooly hat after a swim in the winter alright.

Head cover is important alright afterwards. Wooly hat or even hood of a hoody.

Youghal or Redbarn lads?

Or is there not much difference between them for swimming.

Looking for a spot somewhere theraround if anyone has a recommendation

The main difference for me down there is the presence of the lifeguards during the summer months and I think they’re on both beaches. That said, swim parallel to the beach and your grand as it should be easy to get out of the water once you’re not out too far.
