The price of steak

My mantra too.. family sick of me saying it..,
although I think a properly cooked simple meal, like a good pasta in an Italian restaurant is hard to match at home..
I can do pretty decent classic Italian dishes, a lot of them are only 4-5 ingredients but they use the best of everything like really good quality olive oils, fresh pasta, San Marino tomatoes and Parmagian cheese and fresh herbs.

I find it it hard to replicate authentic Thai/Asian food, it’s hard to get a lot of stuff they put in the paste here

Agreed… but I just can’t get that Italian restaurant taste.. I read recently that the San Margano tomato thing is total BS apparently. That half the world thinks we are eating San Margano but it’s impossible as San Margano tomatoes are grown only in a tiny area..

I agree on Asian food too. I’d totally given up but started following a good Asian cook last year and it’s helped massively. It’s just centra don’t have the tac..

There is a few asian food shops around now that are pretty good, there’s one down the Marina I go to has a lot of stuff you wouldn’t find in normal shops.

Next time you're in town go down by the coalquay past Dennehys pub there is a shitty little Alleyway.

The kind of place they keep wheelie bins, it opens up onto Dalton's avenue. Old redbrick corpo houses complete with grotto. I'd say the houses haven't seen daylight since the Paul Street carpark was built.

On the opposite side there is a massive fuckin Chinese Supermarket. The staff hardly speak a word of English and the produce you'd be lucky to have anything outside of mandarin too.

it won't be any better than your marina place but it's wild that such a place.exists in town and nobody knows about it.

I reckon if you hit it at the right time you have a fair chance of seeing two pandas in a fighting pit.

They even have a restaurant in there which I'm mad to try

Seem to remember that been used as a place to train wrestlers or something.
Drive through the narrow laneway and come out by the carpark exit.

Top, top Asian spot.

We get most of our Asian stuff there, great selection from all over Asia. I'm very partial to Indonesian food and they have amazing rendang paste, which, to bring this comment full circle, I slow cooked diced up minute steaks in, which were 4 for a 5er in Super Valu. Good atein'.

That's mad as I'm down there most weeks in plug'd records and never knew that place existed.
