The Official PROC Restaurant review thread.

i was just there tonight. fantastic fare... and nice vibe about it..
bty while MOnks lane timoleague may be good, in fairness after a sea swim even mcdonalds would taste michelin star!

Was in Hayfield yesterday for afternoon tea. Jesus the food is so mediocre.

I don't think I've ever had a memorable meal there. Never had a bad meal, but for a 5 star hotel their food is really not up to standard.

How many rosettes do they have? I had afternoon tea in The Kingsley a long time ago and it was lovely. I used to make the pastries for them too in various kitchens. There's a lot of work goes into them if they are done well

they were posting on social medja about how hard it was and apologised for it being so chaotic.

Might leave things settle a few weeks before i brunch on insole gumbo and bottomless mimosas

Went to Bayou for breakfast on Saturday to see for myself.

I would have to say that it isn't great at all. In fact - it was pretty much a disaster, start to finish.

Counter service, grab your cutlery and then they bring the food/drinks to you. No issue there.

Had granola with yoghurt & honey and then okra with home fries & poached eggs. The other options were fried chicken with honey/biscuits or else some kind of ham dish (which looked horrible) and hush puppies which, I had to Google this, are fried corn balls.

The granola comes with the honey already on top, it was absolutely drowned in the stuff to the point that my bowl looked like someone had dropped a pot of varnish into it. Had three spoonfuls, ate the yoghurt, left the rest behind.

The orka was oily and tasteless, ditto the home fries and the poached eggs had been overcooked. I couldn't face eating all of it.

My dining companion got the chicken (I think you'd have to be out of your mind to order fried chicken for breakfast but horses for courses and all that) and when asked how it was he uttered "It's alright" and then didn't finish half of it - the same lad is a hungry savage usually.

I ordered a black coffee - got coffee with milk already in it. When I mentioned this, I was told that "You ordered a cafe au lait". I suggested that I did not, seeing as I nearly always drink black coffee. The lady at the table next to use then told the person serving that she had, in fact ordered a cafe au lait but had been given black coffee. We were thus invited to swap...

Also our coffees were handed to us like this...

Standards have dropped from the sky in that place since before Covid.

Even in the bar - which was the one reliable bastion of service in Hayfield Manor.

For a 5* hotel - their FOH/concierge team are an absolute joke.
