The Official PROC Restaurant review thread.

In fairness its more that steak has gotten expensive its about €31 or €32 for a Rib eye or about €38 or 39 for a T-bone (from memory)

But thats just the meat and a few leaves

Sides are 6 or 7 so you're not a mile away from 45 or 50 a head main course only which i would regard as expensive.

Ribs and such are about 23 quid i think

Same deal everywhere now though, I think.

I ate in a place in Dublin recently, Lottie's, the steak (which was excellent) was €35-€45 a throw, depending on the cut. The fish dish was €34. Nothing came with a side - the steak had Portobello mushrooms, the fish had some leaves.

Sides - duck fat chips/garlic potatoes/carrots with salsa verde/salad/focaccia - were all €5.50 (at least) each.

Starters €15-€20

€8 quid for a house red. €7.50 for Guinness/€9 for a Trouble Brewing Ambush. Also got charged €13 for one glass of white wine.

The price of dinner for 5 people ramped up fairly quickly. At €40 odd quid for a steak, charging a fiver for a bowl of fries is taking the piss.

A lot of very ordinary places are pushing 20 quid for ordinary fare. I wouldn't mind paying half again as much for something good.

I haven't been there in ages, mainly because I can source good steak myself and have no fear of cooking it.
Always on the look for something I wouldn't be bothered or able to cook myself.
I think I got tongue the last time I was in there.

Elbow Lane is a very solid option.

I ate in Cask a while back too and it was pretty good. Small plates buzz.
Never been there.
Like the look of their menu.
If you like Tapas Moody Cafe on McCurtain street/Glanmire road is excellent also.

I love Moody and Paladar, you won’t be disappointed with either
At the moment it's these three on the shortlist.
I'll be going out at the start of the Christmas season so hopefully that doesn't fuck with the menus too much.

My favorite would be Paladar, Latin American style, vibe, food & music executed very well.

It's a completely unique experience

Monks Lane Timoleague - Best meal I’ve had in 2024.

Had a day out with some old friends from school, we went to Dunworley Beach for a few swims and sauna followed by an absolutely incredible meal in Monks Lane.

I had the O Neil’s Black Pudding pie for Starter followed by the most amazing Slow cooked lamb dish finished with sticky toffee pudding, washed down with some sublime Malbec

I found it great value for money when you consider the quality and service.

Couldn’t recommend it enough
