The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Edinburgh beat Glasgow in a pretty shitty Scottish Derby. They took a hiding in Glasgow last week but played better when Healy came on. He steered them to the win after coming on again tonight.

Townsend, is adamant he needs Russell clones at both clubs but they're much better with Healy at 10 and it's no coincidence

It's almost as if there's a willingness to allow players go to England to get game time than to other Irish sides. A similar mentality that was there 30 years ago when they were happy to export the talent to England rather than pay them.
Connacht had to go sign yer man Iaone who's up there with Eddie Hekenui because one of they Byrnes and/or Prendergast dicked them around. Not even halfway through the season and one of them leaves the setup entirely for a sabbatical.

Same thing with the non brother Byrne allowed go to Cardiff with Munster and Ulster needing props.

It is a shame that the referees in the URC feel they are above reproach.

It would be more of their line to perhaps suggest they did not appreciate how Hansen critised them, put that the points he made would be taken onboard by them.

But no, arrogance has to win out.

That was strange ok, did connacht or munster try to sign ed byrne though ?

Connacht wouldn't have needed him.
The provinces aren't allowed outbid each other so Cardiff may have one upped them.

It's an egregious example by me anyway as I think he fits into the example of players that look much better at Leinster than they actually are (I also don't think he's played this season).

It does show the inconsistency of the IRFU approach, especially when it comes to Leinster and given it happened at the same time Munster were told they're getting Burns.
