The next Government

Who will form the next government

  • Total voters
    56
  • Poll closed .
That's not the point she is making. No one is suggesting rules are being broken. It's like the far right tiktokers who think because the Taoiseach resigned the cabinet resigned and were posting videos saying they accepted the government's resignation and the constitution now required an election. Madness.

The politics is clear though. Harris is legitimately elected Taoiseach. But he is also the health minister of whom an Tánaiste said
Let's not be under any illusion that his uncontested elevation erases his incompetence or imbues him with some new found capability or credibility.
Who even suggested that it would or should?

His election to the highest office again is just democracy.

Holly Cairns or Mary Lou etc could have put themselves forward today but they just do not have the Dail votes of enough deputies who were all of course elected by the people.

So then the point they made about Harris has validity.
That being said a modicum of grace and respect for the office was the bare minimum. No one on the opposition benches applauded. That's just plain wrong

Yea thought the same. There's a minimum level of courtesy and respect befitting the office that should mean the Dáil chamber should graciously applaud a new Taoiseach
You have to respect the traditions and history of a parliament that was hard fought for and especially the office of Taoiseach itself.

Sinn Fein are now just like UKIP and Farage in the European Parliament when they turned their backs during the European anthem being played.

Sinn Fein are just a party of disruption and endless protest.

Nothing else to offer.

All the S.F. deputies got together beforehand and discussed this as a good idea?

I don't know but I agree it is very poor form.
Like wearing a t-shirt in the chamber or "fuck you deputy Stagg".........there are just bare minimums of behaviour and standards without which the whole institution and those who hold office are demeaned

Lets be honest here. If they did clap stacey et al would be calling them hypocrites.

"Modicum of grace and respect"
To a lowlife like Harris?
Tell that to the kids in atrocious pain who were promised they wouldn't be waiting longer than 4 months for surgery.
Or Vera Twomey, who begged and begged for help regarding her daughter Eva having seizures (who has since passed).
These guys are scumbags of the highest order.

Sinn Fein are just not fit for office and taking their protest policics out of a dusty cupboard at Stormont and using them down here will not win them any support.

Just a disrespectful Student Union politics style stunt

Harris is a lot of things but he is not a lowlife.
He is now Taoiseach.

If we are to behave like a civilised and modern democracy, given all that was sacrificed to achieve that - manners, respect and grace are minimums for all TDs Seanadóirí and the chamber itself. Otherwise we are behaving like a tin pot Republic which we most certainly are not.

Yes the politics is very clear, they want to complete the program for government that they signed up to. I wouldn't expect some one that supports Sinn Fein to grasp such a simple concept. The run for election at the drop of a hat party.
