The Gaelic Football Thread

Is it true that Kevin Walsh is only doing the odd weekend , not coming down to training during the week. Crazy if so .

If true and it was reported in the Sunday times it is a unique cork solution to a cork problem……in essence a part time coach for a team with aspirations to get to the top table I presume, how a team is meant to develop and improve when the coach is not around at training is insane, who does coaching during the week?

I think that's perfectly reasonable to be honest. This GAA culture of supposed part time coaches travelling across the country 3 times a week is fucking ridiculous.

There is no other serious county with their main coach acting part time and missing the majority of the sessions, no wonder the team hasn’t developed

There was a comment on here saying how well the Irish lads did at the NFL combine. Rory Beggan is one. The comment has been deleted.
I think the lads will be slightly disappointed in their performances. Missing 25-30% of your kicks won’t cut the mustard in the NFL with kickers in the 80-95% range for the season. Hopefully the lads will have impressed enough to show they have lots of potential to get there.

jesus.. Sweeper keepers - not the future surely.

remember when Counihan decided Noel O'Leary was the man for Marty in an AIF,

and was right?

Jeez, did he retire at 23 or go back to Oz?
Went back for another 2 or 3 but didn't make any great impact. He was diagnosed with Addison's Disease and retired form all sport I thought, maybe he was still playing for his club though. Don't know a lot about Addison's but is causes fatigue and I think needs to be managed with medication on going. You'd wonder would he be able for the rigors of county football at 36 with if it was debilitating at 26. Hopefully he has got on top of it.

Interesting to see if it works out, very clever player with great vision and ball skills.

Tadhg Leader sounding bullish. There is an extra roster spot and teams are mandased to have an IPP in their training camp so competence with some versatility could well get them in the door. after that its down to performance
