I see McGuinness has received an 8 weeks touchline ban for playig the young lad. He wont like that.

The Independent's report says that not being aware of the rule was a "genuine error". I wonder what the reporter considered "genuine" (rather than perhaps "negligent"):
  1. Not reading the sport's published rules in the first instance?, or
  2. Not checking specifically for age eligibility in the sport's published rules when considering selecting a player so young?
I wonder if one of these reasons will be the basis for an appeal.

Next time a player is suspended for breaking a different rule that's been there for 8 years, I wonder will the Independent characterize the infraction as a "genuine error" on the player's part, and proceed to suggest that the player will challenge the suspension.
