They bucked the trend in the locals in Cavan/monaghan and gained seats, The worry for them is after the very poor locals in 2019I agree but they'll need to put up very good campaign. They were on about 18% in polling before locals and euros but fell well short of that on actual polling day.
However, the timing of UK general election caught them on the hop with lot of their canvass teams (especially in Dublin and border counties) ordered up to North for Westminster campaign.
Also, turnout will be higher in GE than locals/euros and this should be an advantage for those opposing the government.
