Two new nuclear reactor designs currently under development in the US, both of which can use waste materials.

Perhaps making all nuclear waste completely and utterly inaccessible for 10,000 years isn't such a great idea after all...

Mini nuclear reactors could potentially be a great solution though. Too small to really cause problems and potentially be mass produced.
