If South Africa had detained Putin you can be absolutely sure the Russians would have moved heaven and earth to get him back. Expecting developing African countries who rely on Russian economically to be as pro-Ukraine as the UK or EU is just not realistic.

If South Africa had detained Putin you can be absolutely sure the Russians would have moved heaven and earth to get him back. Expecting developing African countries who rely on Russian economically to be as pro-Ukraine as the UK or EU is just not realistic.

They rely on them economically. If the west want them to align with them in conflicts etc then they need to make it worth their while.
