Why should we pay to join NATO when we can hide for free behind the NATO shield. I am sure the Baltic States and the Finns envy us!

Switzerland does not hide behind a NATO shield they are a successful neutral country. They also imposed sanctions on Russia when they invaded Ukraine so not pro Russia either fact people who are anti Russian are pro NATO.

Whats your point. They have a credible defence capability at great expense, we get our shield for free and spend pennies on defence. I bet if the Swiss had a border with Russia they would be in NATO Like us they have the luxury of having NATO countries between them and Russia but like a true Neutral they are funding credible defence capabilities.

A prosperous and democratic Ukraine would indeed pose a serious threat to Putins dictatorship. Never do if the ordinary Russians started saying we want a bit of that freedom and prosperity!

Hate to tell you, but it is Putin who is anti-Russian. He’s the one who himself started an unnecessary war that has caused hundreds of thousands of casualties. He has politically oppressed his citizens, killed opposition figures and journalists, and siphoned off huge amounts of money for himself and his oligarch cronies. If a foreigner was doing this it would be an act of war. But to you, opposing this behavior makes one “anti-Russian”.

No that is exactly what I am not saying I am saying quite clearly NATO was set up to contain the Soviet Union last time I consulted a world map the USSR does not exist, Still have not shown me how NATO is not an anti Russian alliance. My point still stands.

NATO was set up to contain Soviet aggression. The very same sort of aggression that the successor to the USSR has amply shown by invading Ukraine. Having shown itself as an aggressor, two more countries have joined NATO since Russia unilaterally began the war. They would not have joined had not Russia shown itself to be an aggressor.

NATO was set up to contain Soviet aggression. The very same sort of aggression that the successor to the USSR has amply shown by invading Ukraine. Having shown itself as an aggressor, two more countries have joined NATO since Russia unilaterally began the war. They would not have joined had not Russia shown itself to be an aggressor.

Russia invaded Ukraine in the 2020's there was no invasion of Ukraine in the 90s or early 00s there was however a military alliance still in Europe expanding up to the border with Russia though.

Countries were trying to get into NATO as protection from Russian aggression -simple fact. Ukraine did not quiet make it.
