Nah, that was Maddens the delicatessen and provisioers. They did various fancy foodstuffs and had a wine license too. Used to cater for some of the ships that called in. Latterly had a sister shop out in Wilton.

Maddens TV rentals were on Parliament Bridge. Think there’s a barbers there now

Maddens also had a shop on Princess Street, I reckon that Barbers are doing more business there than when Maddens sold TV's etc.

Don't remember The Lansdowne but I remember The Cuban House very fondly. I'm guessing it took it's name from being a cigar emporium at one stage but when we were in Christians that was the local cake shop. I tasted my first ever custard slice in there and it was the start of a life-long love. None of yer cream sh*te either. Proper custard - the clue is in the name like!
