Well Honda ye produced a Cork minor this year so it must be going well and well done to all involved. I’ve friends in north cork and it’s really difficult in the rural clubs. Not too many left on their own now outside the towns and big villages. An amalgamation isn't a straight forward process either. My own club had to jump through hoops just to get the case heard. We didn't field underage teams from about 2007 to around 2015 due to lack of numbers, and it shows on our junior team now. Massive age gap between say our 2 or 3 eldest players to our 4th and 5th. On our hurling team I'd say our 5th oldest player would be 21/22. Only in the last year or two have we had a second team with a few subs, for 2 clubs that were capable junior teams on their own 10 years ago. You'd really need to be on the brink of folding to amalgamate, but it was the best thing for our parish.
My comment about an amalgamation was directed to the previous post which suggested its purpose in Timoleague there was to take the very best from both clubs and forget about the rest. That’s incorrect I’d suspect and would not be approved.
