Technically, someone like Mark Knopfler would be streets ahead of Clapton, although I wouldn't count myself as a big fan of either musically.

Zappa was some man, although he was a superb guitar player , he was an outstanding muscian altogether.

I'm not sure if people remember, but Hendrix was a pop star like Prince. I wouldn't diss his studio work so much , except to say it was all a bit too much acidhead hippy dippy shit for me. Live was another matter, he was fucking appalling live, bum notes that would crack your teeth. Woodstock etc, fucking horrible, he was a showman tbf in his feathery scarf.

Boom boom boys opinions have no relevance in a discussion about music imo also.

Just to add, Gallagher pisses all over Hendrix, even Hendrix knew that despite being constantly drugged out of his tiny mind.

That was appalling considering how much he owed to blues players like B.B. King, he dismisses it now as a drunken rant but it cast a shadow over his career alright.

I think we can all agree on the brilliance of Jimmy Page anyway, this is one of my favourite guitar songs period.

If we are talking about complete musicians, Zappa was a genius in this regard.

One album of his I will never understand how it's not talked about as one of the all time greats.

Major scales sound happy , minor scales sound sad, Zappa played in a scale that always sounded sarcastic

Yes Willie The Pimp is one of those stand out songs. Apostrophe is one of my faves,Man From Utopia is an outstanding production from the get go, those You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore albums are superb. Yellow Shark is total madness, Sheik Yeboti, so many top albums. His discography is off the wall, has anyone ever created so many Gr8 albums.

Unlike Hendrix, Zappa was a master live , when it comes to guitar playing, my personal fav is Sharlina live with Dweezil.
