Immigration Thread

The guards have issued a statement on this, and you can see from twitter (and from parts of this thread) that the people who desperately wanted this to be an issue that they could use to further a racist agenda are raging about that.
Ah stop, it is an asylum seeker or refugee that did it. The protest march tells you that. This crime is directly related to the immigration shiteshow in this country. If they were foisted on a tiny village, the crime wouldn't have happened and this 15 year old would have a normal life going forward,

What false information?
How do I know what misinformation the gardai have an issue with that lead them to issue that statement? For all I know someone could have been named, or a picture or his nationality and that is what they are referring to.
Their statement is fairly vague tbf
It specifically said that "the investigation does not involve anyone seeking international protection".

So it is not a refugee or asylum seeker.

100%

It's an extremely disturbing development for the police to be issuing what reads like a political PR statement.

A 'misinformation notice', ffs, issue a description or stfu.
God it really does make you so angry that you can't use this to give out about asylum seekers, doesn't it...

So the guards confirm that this doesn't involve a person under international protection and that's not enough for you?

You must really really want to believe that they is an immigration issue.
What do you think happened here to have the whole town protesting?

I think it's a shame to have communities in turmoil. For all parties.

I think what gets people's backs up are the hypocrisy and blackout of facts sometimes.

What the Gardai came out is a word salad. When the media describe it reluctantly as a protest against rural crime they are insulting people who know that a lot of these problems are stemming from the uncordinated growth and placements of people there. Not fair on all groups.

I'm sure that the protesters there don't want to be seen as racists as a few posters on here probably do. They are living the experience and seem to have had enough of it.
