The Tiguan is an SUV, the Kia Sportage is also an SUV, anyone who disagrees can take it up with the manufacturers of both. The Sportage is available in a 4DW version btw.

You can split hairs all you want about what constitutes an SUV but the dealers are flogging these yokes as SUVs so the dopes buying them are being sucked into the marketing spin about them being the only option worth considering at this time, even though they are disastrous from an environmental point of view.

The bigger the vehicle the more bigger the carbon footprint it has and the more gas it needs to run it.

There is a lack of small all electric vehicles on the market for those who don't require an outsized monstrosity of a car imho.

The total lack of incentives along with the lack of infrastructure has made the roll out of Electric Vehicles in this country glacial.

In Norway, the world leader for sales of EV you pay no vat, have free tolls and free parking with an EV.

Most people in Ireland cant afford to pay an extra 20-30k for an EV and if they could are put off by the lack of charging points throughout the country.

Our minister of transport had a great opportunity to put Ireland in the driving seat with EV take up but as per usual he is asleep at the wheel.

E10 & E20 fuels are an environmental dead-end too btw, unless you agree with switching land used for food production over to the growing of crops that are required for these fuel additives.

Environment Minister Eamon Ryan has consistently touted EVs as a major solution to Ireland's emissions reduction plan. However, the high cost of second-hand cars is proving an obstacle to mass adaption, one of the country's biggest experts in the field has warned.

Editor of IrishEVs.com, Tom Spencer, has repeatedly called for the Government to remove Vat and vehicle registration tax (VRT) from second-hand EV imports from the UK. Only measures such as these will ensure there are enough affordable EVs to meet the already significant demand, he said.
