Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Delanys and Dillons amalgamated at U14 and U16. Dillons absolutely did take our eye off the ball. That’s turning now, albeit more slowly than we thought and would like.

A bit challenge is retaining players up to U16. Sars and the Glen are very attractive clubs and young lads normally have their head turned long before they are ever known. The Kearneys for example are Dillons lads.
Wouldn’t be too aware of Dillon’s underage. My only experience would be from watching st pats in sciath na Scoil in the last year or two but I would be fairly happy with the quality of hurlers coming through for Dillon’s Delaney’s and mayfield judging from st pats. On the other hand, I would be very concerned for na piarsaigh and to a lesser extent the glen

Tommy O C got ate alive by Kelly in Cusack Pk last year. Ger Millerick came on as a blood sub and was excellent on Kelly. Then management reversed the blood sub when it was obvious things had improved. That's one of the main reasons where the match, a 1 point defeat, was lost. In game management on the line needs a big step up this year. Last year they got forgiven it being the first year.

Easy knowing you've never coached the game at any age or played at high level 🤣
You can only get better at a skill by practicing it, it's all well and good doing it in training with no pressure. Try it in a game completely different.
League is for experimenting and trying things.
It's a known fact we're not good in the air catching off puck outs.
Only way we get better is doing it.

Your local club (if you even have one) would tend to do the same in league/challenge games before championship, try a new or different tactic and see if it works.
This is another level of shite talking

Irish Times preview goes for a KK win. Hopefully our lads will show some pride in the Jersey and make home advantage count. You’d also expect guys to be fighting hard for a championship starting slot - although based on recent selections in the forwards getting dropped is harder than it should be…

Reading The Rugby Times to get your hurling analysis is a bad start
