Agree with most of that r&b - I’ve been critical of Conor cahalane in the last couple of weeks but he was exactly what was needed tonight. Hoggie & Kingston were extremely poor - the crowd we’re getting on the ref re the Hoggie & Lawlor battle but Lawlor just out fought him from start to finish, simple as. Ditto butler on Kingston - if Shane can’t grab a ball in his hand he’ll never fulfil his potential. In fact, on that note, Lehane had the best paw of the evening in the forward division by a mile.Just home, a game of two half’s if ever I saw one
We were really poor in the first half, no aggression, no zip to our play and standing off our men way too much
Second half we were like men possessed, great to see the fight in them.
Have to ask serious questions about how Seamus Harnedy and Tim O Mahony were not picked from the start, they were immense when they came on, particularly Tim who took no shit
Defensively we still have issues and they won’t go away as long as we don’t play a defender at 6, it’s not going to change now but it’s a glaring weakness in our team. We have 5 definites to start championship, Sean, Daire, Tim, Mark and Joyce, how we fill the other spot will be the big question, I’ve got to say Downey looked good again tonight but how does he fit in to a backline with the 5 above?
Midfield were superb, Millerick is some workhorse, exactly what we need and Fitzy is in the running for hurler of the year if he keeps this form going, he was simply unmarkable
The fowards were certainly a mixed bag tonight, Connolly was superb all through, Lehane the same, Hoggy had patches of good play but after that we were struggling until the changes came. Im sick of saying this but Conor Cahalane brings so much value to our team with his selfless play and intelligence on the ball. I’d be starting him ahead of a very inconsistent Robbie O Flynn for a start. To me right now Seamus, Hoggy and Lehane are the only certainties to start, Connolly has surely put himself in pole position after tonight and I’d stick with Shane Barrett but not at 11. the roving 15 role is made for him
My team for the final

In fairness to Hoggy, its going to take a serious forward to better his exploits. He's been incredible for Cork. He'll be our best Cork forward since Ray Cummins - I'll quote this post in a few years
I was beginning to write him off but that was a massive step up on his intercounty performances to date. He'll be our best Cork forward since Ray Cummins - I'll quote this post in a few years
I am very happy with Sean O Donoghue and Daire O Leary in the full back line, Sean Is as good a corner back that’s out there after Sean Finn. Daire is 20 and is a beast of a man who actually loves defending, he reminds me a lot of the rock, he will be there for the next 10 yearsAgree with most of that r&b - I’ve been critical of Conor cahalane in the last couple of weeks but he was exactly what was needed tonight. Hoggie & Kingston were extremely poor - the crowd we’re getting on the ref re the Hoggie & Lawlor battle but Lawlor just out fought him from start to finish, simple as. Coleman at 6 isn’t the biggest problem at the back - it’s the full back line, they lost too many 1 v 1 s in that first half. Joyce at 6 would be better I’ve no doubt but what’s more likely to catch us is simply a lack of top top class full back line specialists. None of our options across the line would rank in the top players in the country.
Super second half - they always looked like they were going to win that. Loads of positives, and bring on the final
Back on board? Why were you ever off it?Lads, that was outstanding. Winning out that game was really important. We went one up, but ended up one behind soon after but still went on to win it. That's the shit we need. Nothing won, but I'm back on board anyway. Seeing all those kids swarming around the players afterwards. That's what you want. Our footballing brothers can have that too if they up their game.
One moment stood out to me that might be an odd one to pick but Kingston's failure to rise the ball led to a KK point then resulted him in being taken off. That's what we need.
Superb out of Cork tonight and you can quote me in the Echo!!
As some said a minute ago, a man reborn. Whoever may have helped convince him to take the year out, put an arm around him and made sure the time out reaped value deserves huge kudos.Great stuff from Lehane, good to see Connolly back on form, a fella from the Rockies told me he could be the best full forward they ever produced. Must check his drugs
Maybe I'm blinded cause Cork won but I'd no issue with him.Great 2nd half. Half backs ruled the roost. Some great individual displays and great to beat the cats.... Again.
Stack the ref had a nightmare or I'm being bias. Thought it was the worst display by a ref for many a year. Kilkenny had 13 fouls in 1st half Cork had 2 and we got a yellow card. I'm honestly confused re some decisions he made. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Rebels Abu. Bring on Offaly tomorrow.
