O Neill was by far the best all round footballer in Cork that time but was busy running a successful building company west in Bantry and he could not commit to LTs training 43 times a week. Any normal training schedule and O Neill would have been our No.1 midfielder and natural leader.Damian O Neill was probably the best club player in the County at the time and didnt feature much at the time for Larry also. Jesus thinking of it we were fairly spoilt for choice for mid fielders around Cork at the time.
