Batsh*t Crazy Green Party

The perennial fingers in the ears "I can't hear you" response of the Left to questions they don't like. It's a good question - how can RTE ensure 4% of its staff are LGBT if you're not allowed ask employees re their sexuality? Wide open to accusations of discrimination from either side.

"Oh you're awful - but I like you" - [(c) Dick Emmery]

You can ask but there is no obligation on an employee to answer.

You say they can ask a question at an interview "but there is no obligation on a (prospective) employee to answer". I'm not sure that's correct tbh.

"Well we will bear you in mind for the position but tell us Brendan - why have you turned up in a dress and wearing lipstick - are your adjectives them/they?"

If Brendan doesn't get the job I'd say he might have a good case to bring to the WRC - apart from trying to satisfy some arbitrary woke headcount why on earth would such a question be asked at an interview if it doesn't affect how he/her/they can carry out the job???

I think these kind of initiatives that prioritise hiring people on the basis of their sexuality are ropey at best.

What should that have to do with anything in regard to someone's suitability for a job?

Brave new world. ?

I must admit I like their drive for 5-8% hire of persons with a disability. Is there a list of the disabilities that they have in mind though?

Just hire the best person for the job.

What your sexuality, gender choice or the religion you adhere to is your very own private business.

No wonder our public services are focked.

What next?

Hire 1.5% Star Wars or Taylor Swift obsessives?

Yeah not a fan of her either. There have been plenty of useless male presenters too. Marty is stealing a living to be honest.

Marty (aka BettyBoo) is a "bogger" version of Tubridy. "Talent" that we couldn't possibly do without - until they've tried their luck elsewhere and disappeared without trace on a fraction of the salary. At least Marty has an interest in the game and actually played it to some level. But he's, male and stale, and without the fake tan would be west-Clare pale too.

So I think it’s good that RTÉ is trying to be more inclusive. When the likes of Marty retire it’ll be refreshing to see a more diverse panel on TSG and on commentary. Same with all RTÉ on air programmes. Absolutely people should get a job based on talent but in my opinion setting targets for race, LGBT+ etc ensures that recruiters do not overlook people who have in the past been overlooked. Affirmative action has many benefits and there’s plenty of evidence to back this up.
