Amsterdam cafes

I am being tasked with organising a stag weekend in Amsterdam for September.

Someone in work was saying that they thought the cafes (marijuana selling variety) were not open to tourists and only locals with an ID card.

I seem to recall some talk of this a few years back but I cant remember if it came in.

Anyone know the answer?

I think Amsterdam should be ok, I was there in Nov and it was fine. The problems were around the parts of the country that border Germany and Belgium I think.

There are no firm plans to introduce it in Amsterdam as yet, they're talking about January 2013. More info here:

i lived there for a year

great spot to live but i wouldnt go near it for a stag tbh

The Dutch are very smart at corralling the tourists into one area and taking their money off them, so you will spend your weekends with a load of brits monged off their tits
