2024 Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship

Aghabullogue relegated as well.
Kilworth 3-14 Aghabullogue 2-12.

A very tough game of winter hurling. Teams played with their hearts on their sleeve. Enjoyable game to say the least.

Kilworth were slightly the better hurlers and deserved the victory in the end. Eoin Carey hurled well and got some lovely scores to help them claw back a 4 point deficit. Stalwart Liam Whelan and Jeremy Saich were industrious in midfield, hurled well and died with their boots on. For Aghabullogue, Colm Gillespie, John Corkery and Dan Ó Duinnín were best on show.

I thought the Aghabullogue spectators were dog rough and very boisterous. I was a neutral in the stand and it was hard to listen to them. They were still mouthing after the match. They were damn lucky not to get 2 straight red cards so they were best to keep their mouths shut.

Saying that, I expect Aghabullogue to come back next year and rattle that Intermediate A county once again. Kilworth are a good side and should be more competitive at this level but their panel is tight and they have a lot of lads over 30 still playing for them.

Kilkenny champions Lisdowney are gone. Rathnure from Wexford are the Leinster champions.
Rathnure were convincing winners today. Obviously a famous club who were relegated last year but bounced straight back up. 24 points in December is some scoring. A rathnure watergrasshill all ireland final would be a cracker

Yes thank god for Clubber, great viewing from the couch on a Sat night, the Hill set the tone from the start, Cashel never looked like winning the game, one point from play in the first half wont win you a Munster title, interesting that the 2 Brownes Aaron the keeper and Ger not starting both having played for Tipp, looks like they are still seen as blow ins after the transfers but having seen them play before def would be better than current keeper and theres a place there from 5 to 15 for Ger, even with them the Hill were superior, McCarthy had some game in the back line assisted by D O'Leary and O'Neill, big Mike was motoring well before going off, hopefully nothing too serious, Cronin worked his socks off in the middle and upfront Murphy was unmarkable, Desmond was dangerous every time the ball went near him drawing numerous frees and Lehane was everywhere, Im not sure if any team left in this championship have 3 backs capable of locking all 3 of them down and have 3 forwards that can out hurl O'Leary, McCarthy and O'Neill, great to see them advance have been extremely unlucky in the group stages the last few years and they have proved how tight the prem inter grade actually is
