2024 Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship

Kilworth 3-14 Aghabullogue 2-12.

A very tough game of winter hurling. Teams played with their hearts on their sleeve. Enjoyable game to say the least.

Kilworth were slightly the better hurlers and deserved the victory in the end. Eoin Carey hurled well and got some lovely scores to help them claw back a 4 point deficit. Stalwart Liam Whelan and Jeremy Saich were industrious in midfield, hurled well and died with their boots on. For Aghabullogue, Colm Gillespie, John Corkery and Dan Ó Duinnín were best on show.

I thought the Aghabullogue spectators were dog rough and very boisterous. I was a neutral in the stand and it was hard to listen to them. They were still mouthing after the match. They were damn lucky not to get 2 straight red cards so they were best to keep their mouths shut.

Saying that, I expect Aghabullogue to come back next year and rattle that Intermediate A county once again. Kilworth are a good side and should be more competitive at this level but their panel is tight and they have a lot of lads over 30 still playing for them.
Kilworth have a few youngfellas coming through but not enough to be competitive at the latter stages for a while I'd say. I was at the drawn game and thought the same about Aghabullogue supporters. Overly aggressive altogether. Every free even blatant ones the referee was abused.

Couldn't disagree with this more, Aghabullogue were the better team for vast periods of a game in very poor conditions, Two extremely poor goals against the run of play turned the game, one from a sideline and one from a puck out.

I'd agree the ref was poor and there should have been at least 3 red cards in the game, 2 for Aghabullogue and 1 for Kilworth. not saying it's correct but in fairness he tried to keep the 15 on the field.

Being at the game I feel emotions were high on both sides as per any relegation match, there was fighting from Kilworth supporters on the banks at the drawn game and again very antagonizing at game on Sunday.
To call Aghabullogue supporters out as "dog rough" doesn't sound very natural or accurate .

Yes, Aghabullogue were the better team in the first half. But Kilworth were down 4 or 5 points at half time and won by 5. They outhurled Aghabullogue in the 2nd half and deserved their victory.

The referee should have definitely flashed a red on one or two occasions for sure and the game got heated for a period as a result of him not dealing with it properly.

Some (not all) of the Aghabullogue supporters were dog rough. They were narky and nasty and trying to rise the Kilworth supporters around them. Some Kilworth fans had to leave the stand because they couldn't put up with it.

Aghabullogue are good enough to win Intermediate A again and get back up to Premier Intermediate again. Kilworth will hold their own in this grade but hard to see them challenging for the county again.

I went to the drawn game and I had no skin in the game and it was all Aghabullogue causing trouble on the bank. One old man in particular was trying to fight everyone in sight and on the bank in Blarney all it would take was one misplaced step and at his age it would have been game over. I'd describe Aghabullogue as mouthy from that game alone but Kilworth are no angels. The ref got escorted into the dressing room because of the abuse he was getting. Shame I missed the replay, sounded like a right laugh 😂

I think I witnessed the same man in PUC the night Aghabullogue played the football final, at one stage I taught he was going to start fighting with himself 😆😆

Kilworth had 16 men on field during closing stages.

Backed up by video evidence apparently.

Linesman on stand side was more interested in rowing with kilworth/aghabullogue mentors than watching the substitutions.

If Aghabullogue appeal then the precedent is there from Blarney last year but that game ended level.

I don’t think they should appeal tbh. Kilworth were better on the day and the extra man advantage for 60+ seconds didn’t make the 5pt difference.

If you break the rules, it doesn't matter how much your ahead by when you break them, your still penalised. I would appeal it, or else they might as well just play with 20 the whole game.
