2024 Junior A Football Championship

Liscarroll-Churchtown Gaels 1-13 Charleville 0-10 FT
That felt more like a league game rather than a championship final. Charleville looked like a team thrown together, came with no plan or structure whatsoever. When Charleville went down to 14 after 20 mins after a stupid incident, the result was inevitable. The Gaels got some nice worked scores in fairness. The ref also didn’t help with the atmosphere at the game, gave lots of soft frees which Gaels scored. LC Gaels were full value for their win but can’t see them posing any threat to winning this County.

Wat a win for lc gaels tonight winning the North juinor a final 👏 1.13 to .09 points sum lovely scores will take a good bit stopping in county section .p.s great to see darragh fitzgibbon playing for charleville tonight

That was a fair reflection of the game. It was a very dour game. No atmosphere for a final. Referee was whistle happy so there was no great flow to the game. I thought Charleville would be much better than what they were. Obviously being out of the hurling over a month ago, they took the foot off the pedal instead of going all in for the football. They were without Darren Butler, Jack O' Callaghan and Jack Meade, arguably their 3 best footballers. Andrew Cagney only came on as a late sub too. And Darren Casey getting an early red card and Robert Carroll getting a 2nd half black card finished the game as a contest. I don't want to take away from Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels victory. They were certainly the better team on the night. The freetaking of Pauric O' Shea and Colin O' Brien were excellent. LC Gaels also had a hard earned semi final victory against Killavullen on Friday night and it obviously stood to them well last night. As far as I know, it is Liscarroll or Churchtown's first ever Junior A North Cork Football final victory. I am sure they will give Ballygarvan a game on Subday, albeit Ballygarvan might just have a little too much for them.

Ya nobody had us to win this either .and we did the double league and championship this year. We will enjoy the win .u can only beat wats in front off ya and to play 3 hard football championship games in 10 days in a big ask for that team but we will give it everything for sure and don't be surprised if we turn them over ..gaels abu p.s to be league and championship winners is no easy task
